Akhalwaya's Masala Centre
Spice blends and masala mixed on site. A Plaza institution and the reason a lot of people drive in from the suburbs.
Home / Where to eat
You can shop the Plaza on an empty stomach, but nobody does. Food here runs from a paper bag of chilli bites eaten standing up to a proper sit-down curry.
The short version
Most of the cooked food sits along the South walkways and spills into the kiosks between the blocks. Sweets, snacks and takeaway masala are easiest to grab on the way out; anything that needs a table is better done before the shops fill up after 11am.
Nearly everything here is halaal. Where a kitchen isn't, it's signposted at the counter.
Bring cash. Card works in most stores, but the fastest queues are the ones that don't need a machine.

Timing
Food traders keep the centre's core hours, with a rush either side of midday. On Fridays a number of counters close between 12:30 and 1:30pm.
