Getting here
About a kilometre west of the Johannesburg CBD, on the edge of Fordsburg. If you're coming off the M1 or the M2, exit for the city centre and head west — the centre occupies a full block and is hard to miss.
Surface parking runs along all four sides of the complex. It fills from mid-morning on Saturdays and through December — arrive before 10am if you want a bay near your section.
Fordsburg is walkable from the city centre and served by minibus taxi routes and Rea Vaya stops nearby. Confirm your route on the day; services change.
The North and South sections are single-storey and flat. The Central Bazaar runs to three levels — check with the management office on 011 838 6752 for lift access before you travel.
Once you're inside
Two open-air blocks with a three-storey circular building between them. Every trader will give you directions as a shop number, so it's worth knowing which letter you're standing in.
North sectionSingle-storey, open to the sky. Curtaining, menswear, leather and bag shops cluster here.
Central BazaarThe three-storey circular building in the middle. Bridal, jewellery, crockery and kidswear.
South sectionThe largest run of shops. Fabric, fashion, spice, footwear and most of the food.
Walkway kiosksSmall freestanding stalls between the blocks — cellular, bedding, sweets.
Schematic only — not to scale. Replace with the surveyed centre plan before launch.
